Delete your account

You can delete your Nsibi account at any time, from inside the app. It is permanent: there is no undo, and no way for us to bring your messages back.

How to delete it

  1. 1Open Nsibi on your phone.
  2. 2Go to the You tab, then Account.
  3. 3Tap Delete account.
  4. 4Read what is deleted and what is kept, then type your phone number to confirm.
  5. 5Tap Delete my account.

What is deleted

Your profile

Your name, photo, phone number, and the settings attached to them.

Your encryption keys and backup

Your device keys and your encrypted chat backup are destroyed. Nobody can restore your history afterwards, including us: we never had the key.

Your chats and status

The message history on your phone, your status updates, and your membership of every group and chat you were in.

What is kept, and why

Two things outlive your account. Neither is linked to your name or number once the account is gone.

Messages you already sent

They stay in the chats of the people you sent them to, the same way a text message does. Our servers only ever held them encrypted and delete them after 90 days.

Records of payments

If you bought coins or were paid out, those records are kept. We are required to keep them, and they no longer carry your name or number.

If you have already removed the app

Deleting the app does not delete your account. Reinstall Nsibi, sign in with the same number, and follow the steps above. If you cannot get back in, email us at hello@nsibi.chat from a number you can verify, and we will delete it for you.

Your coins and any earnings you have not withdrawn are forfeited when you delete your account. Withdraw them first: we cannot return them afterwards.
